Spain Property -Why is Vera happy?

May 18, 2011

Well wouldn’t you be if you had just received some good news? Particularly after being in the press for bad news, positive news’ stories are all the more welcome, particularly ones that mean you are getting better connected.

Spain Costa property – Vera is a happy town in the South of Spain on the Costa Almeria.

Vera’s inhabitants, have just learnt that the AVE high speed train station is coming to town.

Alta Velocidad Española (AVE) is a service of high-speed trains operating at speeds of up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on dedicated track. It is part of a long term, 10 year Strategic Plan (to 2020) by the Spanish government (Spanish Ministerio de Fomento Ministry of Public Works, called PEIT ) to make 10,000 kilometres of high-speed railway operational, bringing provincial capitals to within 4 hours travel from Madrid.

The project, named N.A.F.A. (Nuevo Acceso Ferroviario a Andalucía/New Rail Link to Andalusia) was meant to help revitalise the southern Spanish economy. The line was inaugurated on 14 April 1992.

In 1994 AVE trains on the Madrid–Seville line began to run at 300 km/h, cutting journey times by 40 minutes and covering the 471 km in 2½ hours.

The last segment of the Madrid–Málaga line was completed on 24 December 2007.

Work started on the high speed rail link in 2009 and will end up being the most extensive network in Europe, with several operational links with France and Portugal, and is the most ambitious high-speed rail plan in the European Union.

So what are the benefits?

The new 185km rail line will bring significant social and economic benefits to Andalucía. As well as passengers, freight will be carried from the Port of Almeria throughout Europe. With a station planned for Vera – Almanzora, with a shopping complex, the benefits will be felt locally as well.

The railway will burrow under the Cabrera Mountains to resurface in the Cabo de Gata. This will be finished in 2012 or 2013 and will have connections to Murcia airport, Almeria airport as well as to Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona. This means you will be able to travel to Murcia airport in 15 to 20 minutes and all the way to Madrid in about 1 hour 30 minutes. It will also be a 25 minute drive to the new Murcia Paramount Theme Park.

There is also a choice of several airports close by with Almeria being about 45 minutes away, Murcia just a little further via the new motorway link and Alicante. The new Corvera airport is scheduled to open Summer 2011.

Buy Costa Property – The region of Almeria

Almeria boasts some of the best and driest weather in Europe. With the new airport in Murcia and the new AVE fast train soon to connect Almeria and Vera with the European rail network and theme parks in the area, Vera offers a lot to property buyers and holiday home owners.

The train station will be less than a 5 minute drive from this ready-built,  Spanish property development, where the prices seemed to have reached their bottom. The latest news already seems to be having an effect on property prices.
