Turkey property-looking for one near a top beach?

April 14, 2011

Turkey’s beaches are rated among the top 25 in Europe (yes it is part of Europe and Asia) by TripAdvisor, who polled its millions of visitors and contributors. In fact 5 of them reached the top 25.

All of these fabulous beaches and really great value-for-money, property around the various coastlines, mean that foreign property investors are a significant driver of property growth. In 2010, property sales to foreign nationals rose by 40 % and reached $ 2.5 billion (the Association of Real Estate Investment Companies, GYODER).  So buy your own piece of Turkey property.

In the poll, this is how the 6 top beaches ranked and why:

No 5 is Olu Deniz – part of the Mediterranean coastline, Olu Deniz is set against the backdrop of the Toros mountains, which has helped it become a top paragliding spot. It is most notably famous for its blue lagoon beach and attracts those who have an eye for natural beauty. The lagoon itself is within the boundaries of a national park and its main beach is so big, that even in the high season it never feels overcrowded.

No.13 I?meler – is around the bay from Marmaris, on the Aegean coast. It has clean beaches, although is not quite as quaint a town as many other places in Turkey, but its facilities are modern. It is a quieter location than Marmaris and has a lovely bay.

No. 15 Belek– a resort town on the Turkish Riviera (from Fethiye to Antalya), 30 minutes East of Antalya, renowned for its white sand beaches and golf, against the Mediterranean backdrop.

First developed as a purpose-built resort in 1984, the area has been planned and built to optimise its stunning natural environment and has garnered international recognition for its environmentally-friendly development.

It has its share of  Roman ruins at nearby Perge and boasts numerous top-quality and affordable 18-hole golf courses.

No 16. Dalyan – Dalyan is a town in Mugla Province, located between the well-known districts of Marmaris and Fethiye on the south-west coast of Turkey. Life in Dalyan revolves around the Dalyan Çayi River and boats are the preferred means of transport to all the local sites.

To the south of Dalyan, on the Mediterranean coast, lies Iztuzu Beach, Dalyan’s turtle beach, which was voted the best beach in the world in 1995.

No.19-Side – on the Mediterranean is a bustling resort town which retains a “village” charm due to pedestrianisation and the many, small, family-run facilities. It is a place of historic interest with its Temples of Apollo and Athena. West Beach has more hotels, East Beach is less crowded but a bit rockier, but both enjoy fabulous sunsets.

No 24. Antalya – on the Mediterranean coast is a big tourist attraction, with lots of activities for the whole family, as well as historic sites such as Hadrian’s gate.

Antalya International airport is the second busiest airport in the Mediterranean region, with only Palma airport in Mallorca being busier. There are direct,  year round flights from the UK and Europe to Antalya, and because of the year-round season, the rental potential is really good.
